'American Bull' along with Teimour Qaderi’s ‘Gando’, both from Iran, will participate in the 15th edition of the Arica Native Rural filmfest, set for November 6-15.
Produced in 2019 in collaboration with the Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the short film is about teenage Saheb who owns the only American bull of his village. Saheb earns a living by renting the bull to other bull owners for mating.
The 14-minute film was recently screened at the 13th edition of the Annual Iranian Film Festival – San Francisco (IFF). It is also acclaimed with the best short film award at the 1st Dhaka International Youth Film Festival in Bangladesh.
Among the previous festival screenings of the film include the 65th Oberhausen Int’l Short Film Festival in Germany, the 27th Sguardi Altrove int’l women’s film festival in Italy, the 2019 Sapporo Short Film Festival in Japan and the 2019 Int’l Amateur Film Festival of Kelibia (FIFAK) in Tunisia.
The Arica Native Rural Film Festival is meant to serve the young audience and make them familiar with natural and cultural treasures around the planet. It is also a starting point for the indigenous filmmakers and filmgoers.
